$20 Per Month High-Speed Internet Is Coming For Low Income Seniors And Families – Here’s How You Can Get It

The federal government has announced an awesome tweak to a program that delivers cheap high-speed internet to low income families. The change will see the program expand to assist low income seniors across Canada.

The Connecting Families initiative launched in November 2018 and helped 75,000 families across Canada access internet services for less. According to a press release today from the government, the program will now expand to assist hundreds of thousands of Canadian low-income families and seniors. Companies taking part include Bell, Telus and Rogers.

According to a new release, the next phase of the program will provide families and seniors with 200 gigabytes of data usage per month and speeds of 50 megabits per second download and 10 megabits per second upload. Currently, low income families can benefit from a $10 per month plan with lower data limits and slower speeds.

To be eligible for the new internet plan you must be receiving the maximum Canada Child Benefit for parents or starting now the maximum Guaranteed Income Supplement for seniors.

Eligible households will receive a letter from he federal government which will allow them to sign up for the program.
