Today, you don’t think twice of buckling up for safety reasons and because it’s the law. In 1984, Nova Scotians were asked by CBC if seatbelts should be mandatory because the government was due to make it law.
Some of the answers sound much like the response of those who refuse to be vaccinated.
One gentlemen stated when asked if seatbelts should be mandatory, “Not really, I believe you should have a choice.” Another said, “I don’t agree with them whatsoever, I don’t find it safe myself.” When asked another said, “It’s freedom of choice in this country isn’t it?”
