Mount Thom Devastation Shown In Viral Photo

Hurricane Fiona left devastation in her wake across much of Nova Scotia. Driving Highway 104 on Mt. Thom it is visible where trees have been torn from their roots.

A new viral photo shared by Pat O’Shea who according to Facebook is a retired Nova Scotia Power employee shows the devastation from the air on top of Mt. Thom.

Mount Thom has an elevation of 250 meters and we can only imagine the winds that must have been howling during Fiona’s landfall to bring down that number of trees.

Trees devastated by Hurricane Juan in 2003 left a lot of dead debris on forest floors. Forest fires were more severe due to the tinder dry debris in the years following.
