Angela Smith’s childhood home is going up for sale in Halifax’s west end and some belongings have ended up on Facebook Marketplace including a unique one-of-a-kind item. Her father was gifted a handmade Alexander Keith’s quilt in the 1980’s and Angela is searching for a new home that can love it and care for it as much as her father did.
Her father, Wayne Wolfe is a true lover of everything Nova Scotia and Alexander Keith’s. He has collected over 10,000 beer labels, mostly from 1976 through 1990 and probably 90% are peeled from Keith’s bottles.
The quilt features different sewn Keith’s labels and a big logo in the centre.
“It’s a beauty and has some cool history.” Angela says of the quilt. “My dad is as Nova Scotian as you get and I’d love for this to receive the love it deserves.”
The quilt was made by Wayne’s then girlfriend Michele Redden of the Stewiacke and Truro area. In an effort to keep the vintage quilt in excellent condition it has has had minimal use over the years and has been stored safely.
You can find the handmade quilt on Facebook Marketplace and Angela is open to reasonable offers.
