A Farm Located In The Middle Of A Bustling Halifax Community Is A Rural Oasis – See The Animals & Visit The Tea Room

Before the houses, streets, and hockey rinks where Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon grew up, Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia was a prosperous, well cultivated market garden and dairy community serving the old city of Halifax and surrounding communities.

Today, you can literally step back in time when you walk onto and explore the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm which is located in the middle of a bustling residential neighbourhood.

The Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum is located at 471 Poplar Drive and open May 15th to October 15th, Wednesday to Sunday. Hours are 10:00AM to 4:00PM. Admission is by donation.

The farm is home to cows, sheep, chickens, ducks and many more. It also has a tea room in a heritage building where you can enjoy a drink and snack.

On September 24, the Farm will be celebrating the first weekend of fall with a day full of festivities and a farmyard concert. From 11:00AM until 3:00PM visit Farm Fest, a free family event with artificial cow milking, sack races, scarecrow building, apple pressing and of course you can see the animals.

That evening they will be holding a fundraising outdoor folk concert from 6:00PM until 9:00PM. Food and drinks, including alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Bring a blanket or camping chair and make yourself comfortable. Tickets for the concert are $15 and available in the Farm’s online shop and the Farm’s gift shop

In the event of rain, the concert will move into the big barn and advance ticket holders will be guaranteed a space.
