Make Canada Day A Beach Day – Halifax Municipal Beaches To Open

Many HRM beaches to be supervised beginning July 1.

Lifeguards take to their chairs and watch over municipal beaches in the Halifax area beginning Canada Day. They will be on duty 7 days a week at most beaches.

The two exceptions are Kinap Beach in Porters Lake and Webber’s Beach in Lake Charlotte. These beaches have supervision Monday through Friday.

Beaches that remain unsupervised this year are Malay Falls, Dingle Beach, Blackrock Beach, Kinsmen Beach and Government Wharf.

Municipal Outdoor Pools

After being closed last year, the Bedford pool will open July 1. The Cole Harbour outdoor pool will remain closed until mid-July for renovation work. The Halifax Common outdoor pool remains closed until further notice. The city is determining the work required to open the pool.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, to visit a Municipal outdoor pool, you must book in advance.

Splash Pads

The following splash pads are now open: Bayers-Westwood, George Dixon Centre, Isleville Street, Westmount Sackville (Kinsman). The Halifax Common splash pad will open July 1.
