Colin And Justin, Celebrity Designers Are Serving Brunch At A Cape Breton Hotel They’ve Purchased

For many years, the tiny Cape Breton Island community of Louisbourg has mainly been known to the masses for it’s National Park. The small seaside community that was a battle ground between the British and French during the 1700’s has a new attraction.

Point of View Suites was owned by Tom Kennedy and his late wife Linda. Due to Linda’s declining health and the pandemic they passed the property to its next owners. In come Colin and Justin.

If you don’t know them from television, Colin and Justin are international interior designers, style commentators, Hollywood celebrity interviewers and according to their website, all round lifestyle gurus.

Aaaaaaaaaand we’re back in Nova Scotia! As you perhaps know, we hadn’t planned launching our new hotel until summer…

They travelled from Toronto in September 2020 and quarantined at the closed hotel.

“We had dreamed that buying the hotel might have helped Linda’s health, and that one less worry might lift her spirits, but it wasn’t to be,” Colin and Justin told the Toronto Sun. “She passed just a month before we took possession, but we’ve pledged to honour her memory in any way we can. And we have Tom’s backing.”

In summer 2022 the property will relaunch as North Star, but the duo has opened the doors this summer to meet summer demand.

Colin and Justin plan on remodeling all 20 guestrooms and an ancillary beach house. The plan is to take Point of View Suites to the next level all while respecting the previous owners legacy.

What might you experience if you visit Point of View Suites today? Well, maybe Colin and Justin. Toronto is home for the pair, but they are travelling regularly and even working hands-on in the dining room and kitchen.

To get ‘er/‘im done, we have to be prepared to do whatever’s required. So today I played kitchen porter, and Colin…

They have been serving breakfast between 7:30am and 10:00am as of late, but they just announced that the hotel will start serving brunch on August 21 and every Saturday and Sunday until the season ends.
