Elections Nova Scotia is reporting that the returning office for the electoral district of Clayton Park West, located at 137 Chain Lake Drive was broken into last night, August 15, 2021.
Police are investigating the break and enter. IT equipment and two empty ballot boxes were stolen. Elections Nova Scotia has confirmed that there were no ballots in the boxes taken.
All ballot boxes containing early votes cast in this provincial election were securely locked in a room that was not breached. Elections Nova Scotia says they are confident that the integrity of the election in the district has not been compromised.
Voting is currently not available in Clayton Park West. Elections Nova Scotia is apologizing to voters for the inconvenience. Voting will resume in the district as soon as possible.
