The original video is almost three years old, but it has been making its rounds on TikTok as of late.
The video we’re talking about, is of hip-hop superstar Lizzo shouting out Nova Scotia during the shooting of her music video for Tempo, featuring Missy Elliot.
“No, I can’t be incriminated. Nova Scotia in the building, b*tch. Nova Scotians do it best!” says Lizzo.
The hip hop superstar is talking about one man in particular, Andy Hines, from Avondale, Nova Scotia. Andy directs music videos for the stars, is Grammy nominated and has won three MTV Video Music Awards for his work.
“Everybody always asks me where I’m from, because I usually show up a little different from what they expected, and then Nova Scotia becomes a talking point,” Hines told the Canadian Press in 2019.
“I’m proud of where I’m from, I’m proud of the people that are back home in the arts and music, that are creating in the Maritimes.”
Andy is respected in the industry so much that he has worked with the likes of Keith Urban, Alicia Keys, Logic, Sean Paul and the list goes on. When he isn’t winning awards for his art, Andy also works with big Nova Scotia talent such as Classified and Adam Baldwin.
