Cape Breton Man Strumming Up Success With Tree Picks

Cape Breton native, Adam Chiasson, is strumming his way to success with his new venture, Tree Picks. In a short period of time his wooden guitar picks have found homes around the world.

For every pick sold, Tree Picks plants a tree. The first tree planting was in Cape Breton last summer.

The question that he gets the most is, why should someone use a pick made of wood? Adam says the answer is one word, “TONE!”  He says, “Wooden picks will give you a different sound. They sound and feel different. There are many other reasons such as the environmental side of it. We plant a tree for every pick we sell, and wooden picks will eventually compost, but we at Tree Picks are players. The main reason we like to use a pick made out of wood is because of how they sound.”

The picks come in a variety of colours because of the woods they are crafted from. They include Cherry, Maple, Zebra and Walnut. You can also get picks specifically designed for jazz players.

Tree Picks has plenty of musical artists who use their picks and have custom picks crafted with their names on them. They’re on sale on along with countless others with provinces, cities, countries and other designs on them.

We recommend picking up a pack of Nova Scotia or Cape Breton picks for your next practice session or for the musician you know. Visit to place your order and support an Islander’s business. Use promo code NSBUZZ at checkout for a discount. The website also offers some great looking apparel such as tee’s, hoodies and hats.
