Jen Glass has travelled North America both for work and pleasure and her life experiences have brought her back to Nova Scotia with a passion for applying her creativity to recycled jean jackets. This brought her designer label, Jen Jackets, to life.
The jackets are more than your typical jean jacket. They are fashion statements that have caught the eye of American actor, Chad Michael Murray while he’s filming Sullivan’s Crossing in Nova Scotia. The series is a 10-episode, 1-hour drama for CTV.
Chad Michael Murray on the Halifax Waterfront
A couple times a year, Jen Jackets does a curated collection for Spring Garden Road boutique, House of Moda. This is where Chad Michael Murray’s co-star spotted the jackets and knew they were exactly what Murray was looking for.
House of Moda set up a meeting for Jen and Chad at their Downtown Halifax location.
“It was surreal to see someone you watched on TV walking towards you and wanting something that you created.” Glass told Nova Scotia Buzz. “Chad Michael Murray was sitting in front of me wanting me to make him a grungy jacket. He had been wanting one for years but hadn’t found anything – until he saw my jackets.”
Chad brought his entire family to the meeting.

“He’s a football dad, with two amazing little kiddos and an awesome wife.” said Glass. “It was really cool to meet someone you watched on tv and see them all grown up as a family man now.”
FUN FACT: Chad Michael Murray brought his whole family to Nova Scotia while filming Sullivan’s Crossing. His son has been playing local football and his wife has a favourite Halifax latte shop!
“He came in looking for a ’90s grunge style jacket that he could wear every day while walking around Los Angeles that encompassed all his favorite bands. He wanted a huge Foo fighters patch on the back as the main piece. I couldn’t really find what I wanted so I decided to design a memorabilia piece for Taylor Hawkins and the Foo Fighters and hand painted it on. I did find some patches but mostly I decided to paint the patches.”
Murray’s kids received jackets as well. His daughter requested a Frozen jacket and his son requested a Buffalo Bills football jacket.
“The last jacket that I did for him is one for One Tree Hill. There is a huge convention in Wilmington, North Carolina where One Tree Hill was filmed starting November 10th. He will be wearing the jacket for the convention, signing it and then auctioning it off.”
Chad Michael Murray plays the roll of Cal in Sullivan’s Crossing which airs on Sunday on CTV Sunday evenings.
