This Nova Scotian Actress Stars In A Must See Netflix Top 10 Christmas Movie

Hometown Holiday staring Samantha Gracie is streaming on Netflix.

If you browse the Top 10 Movies in Canada on Netflix, one title that has consistently been there as of late is Hometown Holiday staring Nova Scotia’s Samantha Gracie.

Based in Toronto for the past seven years, Samantha’s hometown is Dartmouth, Nova Scotia where she comes home to visit her family two to three times a year.

In the movie, Samantha plays the character Ashley. She and her sister make the resolution to up their dating game and only date “the good ones”. Opposites attract when Ashley’s sister meets Ryan Roarke. “The characters all navigate what it can be like running into old flames and new flames over the holidays, which is something I think we can all relate too!” Samantha told Nova Scotia Buzz.

Samantha travelled to Cape Breton ever since she was born to spend the holidays with both sets of grandparents in Glace Bay and Sydney. As time goes by some of the most important people involved in her traditions have passed so tradition is changing in her family.

“This year I plan on relaxing with my partner (also a Nova Scotian), my parents and my brother and feeling grateful for everything we have considering the hardships being felt all over the world currently.” Samantha told us.

“We plan to quarantining for the two weeks together and then stay for an additional two weeks to see family and continue some important traditions.”

Samantha wrapped shooting the comedy series, The Influencers, which is set to premier on Amazon Prime in late December.

It’s a five episode comedy series that satirizes the current world of social media in a mockumentary style – much like The Comeback, American Vandal or Best in Show.

Samantha’s father is singer and songwriter John Gracie. “Growing up in a family that loves and appreciates the arts was such a huge catalyst in my choice to pursue acting and music. My brother and I were constantly touring with my Dad, John Gracie, and my mother, Andree Gracie, was his manager, so it never seemed like an unattainable choice. We were a part of the business, and we loved it.” said Samantha.

“That paired with the crazy support my parents and family have given me made chasing my dreams an easy choice. It’s not always easy, but I have seen it done, and that makes the world of difference.”
