The Grocery Rebate Has Received Royal Assent – It Could Be Coming To A Bank Account Near You

The act which contains Canada’s much anticipated Grocery Rebate has received Royal Assent, which means it has become law.

The feds say the new one-time Grocery Rebate delivers targeted inflation relief to 11 million low and modest income Canadians and families with up to an extra $467.

The rebate will be delivered to eligible Canadians on July 5, 2023, by direct deposit or cheque through the Canada Revenue Agency. Recipients will not need to apply for the Grocery Rebate, . It will be delivered along with their July GST Credit payment. However, to be eligible, you will need to have filed your 2021 tax return.

Examples of much you might receive:

A single person making less than $32,000 will receive up to $234 for groceries.

A single parent with one child and $30,000 in net income will receive $386.50 for groceries.

A single senior with $20,000 in net income will receive $233.50 for groceries.

A couple with two children and $35,000 in net income will receive $467 for groceries.
