Sobeys Answers Your Top 10 Questions About Switching To The Scene+ Program From Air Miles

We heard from a lot of readers after we published that Sobeys was leaving the Air Miles Rewards program and Empire, Sobeys parent company had become part owners of the Scene+ program with Cineplex and Scotiabank.

We asked Sobeys our readers’ top ten questions about the Scene+ program and these were their responses.

Nova Scotia Buzz:

Why did Sobeys decide to switch from Air Miles to Scene+?

Sobeys: Scene+ is one of Canada’s most well known and loved lifestyle rewards programs. As we gradually roll out the program starting on August 11 in the Atlantic, our customers can simply do what they always do – focus on feeding their families, and earn points while they do so. Scene+ offers an endless number of ways to earn and redeem points: through our family of stores across the country and at a range of valued partners, including Scotiabank, Cineplex and Expedia; more than 700 Recipe Unlimited restaurants nationwide such as Harvey’s, Swiss Chalet and Montana’s; and with online retailers like Apple, and Best Buy. More information will be available ahead of the Atlantic Canada launch in August 2022.

Nova Scotia Buzz:

A lot of our readers associate Scene+ with free movies and popcorn.  We notice you can already redeem points for Sobeys gift cards on the Scene+ website (5,000 points = $50). Will Scene+ points be redeemable at Sobeys checkout?

Sobeys: Simply put, yes! Our partnership with Scene+ goes far beyond entertainment, dining and travel. Once the program is live in their region, customers will be able redeem 1,000 Scene+ points towards $10 off their grocery purchases at Sobeys, Safeway, Foodland and participating Co-ops, IGA, FreshCo, Chalo! FreshCo, Thrifty Foods, Les Marchés Tradition, Rachelle-Béry, as well as our Lawtons Drugs stores, our liquor stores and online through Voilà. And, Once Scene+ launches in their local store, Scene+ collectors will get exclusive member pricing on a variety of products each week.

Nova Scotia Buzz:

Will customers see point offers (bonus points) on specific items, similar to the current Air Miles promotions?

Sobeys: Yes. Once Scene+ launches in their local store, Scene+ collectors will get exclusive Member Pricing on a variety of products each week.

Nova Scotia Buzz:

Your release says Scene+ will be introduced at your other brands such as Lawtons and Needs. Will you be able to earn and redeem Scene+ points on prescriptions and other purchases at these locations?

Sobeys: Where permitted by provincial law, customers can earn Scene+ points on the full cost of prescriptions at select in-store pharmacies and Lawtons Drugs. At our Needs Convenience stores, customers will be able to earn Scene+ points only.

Nova Scotia Buzz:

If you have a Scotiabank debit or credit card that collects Scene+ Points and you shop at Sobeys, will you be able to double up on Scene+ points?

Sobeys: Yes! Customers will earn even more points when they shop with a Scotiabank debit or credit card and they can redeem Scene+ points for an account credit on participating Scotiabank debit and credit cards. More information on how to earn and redeem Scene+ points will be available when we launch in Atlantic Canada in August 2022.

Nova Scotia Buzz:
