Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for southwestern and central Nova Scotia in advance of a low pressure system which is developing off the U.S. eastern seaboard.
The system has the potential to bring significant rainfall amounts to start the week across many areas of Nova Scotia. Environment Canada says there is uncertainty at this time of the heaviest total amounts.
The rain will begin to intensify Sunday and persist into Tuesday morning. Rainfall amounts from 40 – 80 mm and possibly higher could occur.

Air Quality Statements
Wildfire smoke is reducing local air quality Yarmouth and Shelburne Counties.
“Smoke from a very large forest fire near Barrington Lake may continue to reduce visibility and air quality in the area downwind of the fire.” says the air quality statement.
Although cool and wet weather will remain over the province for the next few days, air quality will remain diminished in communities directly downwind from the fires. It is suggested, if you are unable to take steps to reduce effects from the smoke, and provided it is safe to do so, you should consider temporarily relocating to an alternate place with improved air quality.
