RCMP Charge Pictou County Man Who Allegedly Possessed WWI Bazooka And Multiple Firearms

Nova Scotia RCMP say Pictou County District RCMP have charged a man with multiple firearms offences after an incident on East River West Side Road in Glencoe.

On April 12, RCMP responded to a report of a man pointing a firearm at a woman in Glencoe. Upon arrival at the home, RCMP officers learned that the woman had fled to a neighbouring home. She was safe and uninjured.

The man had allegedly pointed the firearm at her and pulled the trigger, but the firearm was not loaded.

Officers secured the area and attempted to make contact with the man inside the home with no luck. While waiting for the Emergency Response Team, the man exited the rear of the home and was taken into custody.

A search warrant was executed at the home where RCMP seized six handguns, seven shotguns, eight rifles, a crossbow and a bazooka from World War I. The bazooka was turned over to the Royal Canadian Navy’s Fleet Diving Unit Atlantic.

Daren Douglas Loucks, 55, of Glencoe, has been charged with the following:

  • Careless Use of Firearm;
  • Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence;
  • Pointing a Firearm;
  • Uttering Threats;
  • Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.

Loucks has been remanded into custody and will appear in Pictou Provincial Court on April 27.
