Portland Street Superstore In Dartmouth Has Closed After Employee Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Atlantic Superstore on Portland Street in Dartmouth has asked shoppers to leave and is closed. It will re-open on Saturday, April 11 as tomorrow is Good Friday.

An employee who last worked on March 31 has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement of Nova Scotia Buzz, Loblaw Atlantic says, “We have been working with public health officials to contact all potentially affected colleagues and taking appropriate action.”

“A professional cleaning company will do a thorough cleaning of the store overnight –  we contract a 3rd party professional cleaning company to cover all areas of the store.”

“We follow all protocols within the store recommended by public health officials. In fact, we will absolutely go above and beyond what is required. Public health officials are satisfied with our protocols and have confirmed the risk to our customers was very low.”

This incident is similar to the one in New Glasgow yesterday where the store was closed and shoppers asked to leave after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

This is a developing story, more to come.
