NovaScotian Crystal To Close Doors After Falling Victim To COVID-19 Pandemic

NovaScotian Crystal, a staple on the Halifax Waterfront for many years has announced that they will be closing at the end of February 2021.

“Due to COVID-19 this past year has been challenging for many businesses and NovaScotian Crystal was certainly not exempt. During the pandemic we continued to benefit from positive online sales but we lost the significant portion of business from our retail showroom. As a result of COVID-19 and limited access to the Halifax waterfront we were without cruise ship visitors, tourists and customers. Restrictions on our business also severely curtailed our production capacity.” the company said in a release on their website.

Thirty seven employees currently work for the company according to the release on their website and they will work to fulfil orders that come in until mid-February. Gift cards that have been purchased will be honoured.

The company’s showrooms are currently closed, but orders can be made on their website or by calling (902) 492-0416.

NovaScotian Crystal was Canada’s only mouth blown, hand cut crystal maker and can be found on the shelves and tables of many homes in the province and around the world.

Celebrities including Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson even own a piece of the company’s work.
