Public schools in Nova Scotia are being closed for two weeks following March Break in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia.
Daycares will close Tuesday, March 17 for two weeks as well.
Premier Stephen McNeil said in a press conference today, “If we don’t feel comfortable with opening schools, this will be extended. Our number one priority will be the health and safety of Nova Scotians.”
Nova Scotia Teacher’s Union President, Paul Wozney, told the Rick Howe’s News 95.7 show on Friday that the Union would like to see the March Break extended to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to keep the students and teachers healthy.
Last week work was being done to ramp up online learning with a focus on grade 12 to ensure students can graduate on time.
