Welcome back Cineplex, movie buffs have missed you! The company plans on opening many of its 12 cinemas across Nova Scotia and Cape Breton on Friday, July 3rd.
Here’s what’s going to be different on your next trip to the cinema. You will have to purchase your ticket online in advance or at the self-serve kiosks as reserved seating is in effect at every cinema.
On Tuesdays, you can enjoy those tickets for only $2.99 and every other day for only $5! Movies you can expect to see will include recent popular theatrical releases that you may have missed.
Each cinema will be operating at a 60% – 80% reduced capacity and staggered seating with every other row blocked off. Seats will be booked in groups of two, but on arrival staff will allow for modifications if you have a few more family members. We’ve been told not expect to sit with a group of ten. You must sit in your assigned seating.
You’re also being asked to arrive no later than 15 minutes before showtime. You may also be asked to leave through alternate exits to ensure distancing in the lobby.
Limited concessions will be available and they’re going to include your regular favourites like hot buttered popcorn, soda pop and candy. Food at their Outtakes kiosks are going to have to wait for the next phase of opening.
All employees will be wearing masks and guests will be asked to follow suggested public health guidelines and wear them too. If you forget yours at home, Cineplex will give you one at no charge.
“I think the way that you enter the building, the way that you exit the building has changed, the way that you get concessions has changed. But on a very base level, we’re all there for the magic of the big screen and that hasn’t changed.” said Sarah Van Lange, Executive Director of Communications for Cineplex.
