A 21-year-old man from Bedford has been charged with stunting after being caught driving significantly over the speed limit in Timberlea. The incident occurred late Sunday night on Highway 103 when he was pulled over by RCMP.
At around 11:30 p.m., a traffic officer, while on duty conducting speed enforcement, detected a BMW i8 traveling at a high speed of 248 km/h in a zone where the speed limit is only 110 km/h. The vehicle was stopped, and the young driver was charged with stunting, a serious driving offense for travelling 50 km/h or more over the speed limit.
Following the traffic stop, the man’s car was towed, and he now faces substantial heavy fines for his actions. In Nova Scotia, the penalties for stunting include a large fine of $2,422.50 for first-time offenders, along with six demerit points on the driver’s licence. Additionally, there is an immediate seven-day suspension of the driver’s licence.
RCMP reminds all drivers that excessive speed and aggressive driving behavior significantly increase the risk of accidents. They urge drivers to adhere to speed limits and remain attentive at all times while behind the wheel.
