Halifax Born Actor Elliot Page Comes Out As Trans In Instagram Post

Halifax, Nova Scotia born actor Elliot Page has come out as trans. Page, named Ellen when born had their breakthrough role in the much acclaimed movie Juno and stars in Netflix’s, The Umbrella Academy. He says his pronouns are he/they.

Page also made their recent directorial debut with the documentary, There’s Something In The Water. The film examined environmental racism and explored the disproportionate effects of environmental damage on Black Canadian and First Nations communities in Nova Scotia.

Page made the announcement on their Instagram account. “I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive.” said Page.

“To all trans people who deal with harassments, self-loathing, abuse and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you and I will do everything I can to change this word for the better.”
