Under this code, if an item in a customer’s cart or basket doesn’t scan at the advertised price or the price displayed on the shelf, and it costs less than $10, the customer is entitled to receive the item for free. For items priced over $10, if they scan higher than the advertised or shelf price, customers are entitled to a $10 discount off the product.

However, there are some important exceptions to keep in mind. If a customer is purchasing multiple units of an item that has scanned at the incorrect price, they are only entitled to receive one unit for free or receive a $10 discount on one unit. Additionally, the discounts do not apply to prescription drugs, behind-the-counter cosmetics, or individually price-ticketed items.
