Hurricane season hasn’t even started yet, but the National Hurricane Center has their eye on a system off the Bahamas. It is very likely that this system is going to develop into a subtropical depression or storm by early this weekend.
If all goes according to forecast and it gains subtropical or tropical characteristics, it could be the first named storm of the season, which technically doesn’t start until June 1.
The storm is expected to track northeast in the Atlantic Ocean. It is still too early to tell if the storm will affect Nova Scotia or if its track will come near our shores.

It is expected to be a busy season for hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean. Experts at Pennsylvania State’s Earth Science Centre say this year’s hurricane season could be one of the most active on record – with up to 20 named storms.
