Ethan Hawke Celebrated Father’s Day Weekend In Nova Scotia – His Next Big Movie Comes Out Friday

Hollywood celebrity Ethan Hawke celebrated Father’s Day weekend in Nova Scotia and was spotted on Saturday in Mabou, Cape Breton. He spent time at The Red Shoe Pub and visited Beaton’s Delight according to Ryan MacDonald of CBFM, Cape Breton’s Favourite Radio Station. All of this comes one week before the big theatrical release of The Black Phone, in which he stars.

This isn’t his first trip to Cape Breton. Almost 20 years ago Hawke spent a fair bit of time on Cape Breton on writing retreats. He fell for Nova Scotia like many do and today owns a private island near Tracadie which he visits each summer.

His island is 3.6 hectares and has road access from a 60 meter land bridge. When purchased in 2001, it was home to two cottages. The first is a farmhouse summer kitchen built in the 1860’s and hauled across the ice to the island in 1940. The other is a newer cottage, built in 1990.

Hawke is also a big supporter of the Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq community and is friends with local lobster fishermen.

Hawke recently played the role of Maud Lewis’ husband Everett in the movie Maudie. It’s about Nova Scotian and world famous artist Maud Lewis, who was played by Sally Hawkins. He was also Academy Award nominated for his role in Training Day and starred in Dead Poets Society.

Ethan Hawke’s new movie The Black Phone hits theatres this weekend and it’s rumored he is absolutely terrifying in it. The movie was originally to be released this past February, but Universal pushed it to this Friday, June 24.
