Couples Are Flocking To Get Married At This Vegas-Style Nova Scotia Wedding Chapel

With spring in the air and wedding season on its way, forecasts for 2023 suggest smaller, more intimate weddings focused on memorable experiences, sustainable choices and celebrating well beyond the ‘I do’s’. The era of the micro-wedding is now firmly in bloom — and one little chapel in the heartland of Nova Scotia is making big waves in the business of matrimony.

Tucked amidst the coffee shops and local eateries of Main Street, you’ll find the Wolfville Wedding Chapel. The Nova Scotia-by-way-of-Vegas style wedding chapel is an all-inclusive operation with packages aimed at couples looking to cut fuss and amp up the glam. They’ve been helping couples tie the knot in modern and elegant style since 2021.

“Couples aren’t looking for the big traditional wedding anymore,” says Sarah Anderson of East Coast Pop-Up Weddings and the Wolfville Wedding Chapel.

Today’s spouses-to-be are looking to tailor their guest lists, ditch the traditions that don’t work for them, make the day their own, and take their afterparties on the road.

“The trend is towards more of an experience — a wedding reflective of the couple themselves,” explains Anderson. “Everybody wants that effortless romance.”

Packages range from the ‘Quick as Lightening’ that comes with a $1200 price tag to ‘The Whole Shebang’ for $3000. The offerings all include access to the space for up to twenty people, a Justice of the Peace to perform the ceremony, an on-site professional photographer, a retro photo booth, and the option of celebratory bubbly for the gang.

“This lil love shack has seen some amazing moments these last two years,” says Anderson.

The space is already wedding-photo ready — cutting down on the need for any expendable decorations — and ensuring that brides and grooms only need to worry about getting themselves to the chapel on time.

And post-vows, the Annapolis Valley is honeymoon or weekender wedding ready.

“If you plan for an afternoon ceremony at the Chapel, you can hop on the Magic Winery Bus for a built-in reception with your crew, or aim for an early evening ceremony followed by sunset photos at the waterfront,” she says. “Luckett Vineyards, Lightfoot and Wolfville, or the terrace at Le Caveau are all just around the corner.”

“What I love about intimate weddings is that they can be whatever you want them to be,” says Anderson.
