#1 – The Littlest Hobo
The show was about a German Shepherd dog that wandered endlessly, only stopping to do good deeds and help people in need, before returning to his road without end.
#2 – Road To Avonlea
Sarah Stanley, a young rich girl from Ontario was sent to live with relatives on Prince Edward Island in the show which was staged in the early 1900s. She lived with her Aunt Hetty King and had many adventures with her Prince Edward Island family that included Felicity and Felix King and Gus Pike.
#3 – Danger Bay
The adventures of marine biologist Dr. Grant and his children Nicole and J.L. as they fight environmental crimes and other problems.
#4 – The Red Green Show
Red Green was Canada’s iconic handyman and aired his show from Possum Lodge, Canada. His famous saying was, “If the women don’t find you handsome, they can at least find you handy.”
#5 – Today’s Special
In the children’s department of a big department store, when Jodie would arrive for work each night, she carried a mannequin upstairs, where Muffy says the magic words “hocus pocus alimagocus!” This brought Jeff to life.
#6 – The Beachcombers
The classic Canadian series chronicled the adventures of a professional lumber salvager and his friends in British Columbia, Canada as they tried to live their lives while preventing the local pest, Relic, from ruining it.
#7 – Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High
The two series followed Joey Jeremiah, Snake, Spike, Caitlin Ryan and more students from Degrassi on their journey through Junior and Senior High. They tackled controversial, extreme issues and challenges not talked about at the time including abortion, cancer, death, suicide, and AIDS.
#8 Street Cents
Street Cents was filmed at CBC’s studios in Halifax and aired nationally across the network. It was a consumer and media awareness show targeted at teenagers. It aired from 1989 until 2006.
#9 – Due South
The show followed the adventures of a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer, Benton Fraser, who went to Chicago on the trail of the killers of his father. He remained in the city working with the Canadian Consulate. In each episode he teams up with a detective of the Chicago Police Department to solve crimes.
#10 – You Can’t Do That On Television
The classic Canadian children’s television show launched the careers of a few young professionals including Alanis Morrisette. It was sketch television in Nickelodeon style. If you admitted you didn’t know something you would have green slime dropped on you and if you said the word water, it would fall on you.
