Chapters Indigo Victims Of Cybersecurity Incident

In a social media post to customers, Indigo which owns Chapters book stores in Halifax and Dartmouth announced they were the victims of a cybersecurity incident on Wednesday, February 8.

“We experienced a cybersecurity incident earlier today and are working with third-party experts to investigate and resolve the situation.” said Indigo in a statement on social media.

For the time being across Canada, Chapters and Indigo locations are only accepting cash and their website is down. Stores are also unable to accept gift cards or returns.

Stores under the Empire Company group of brands including Sobeys and Lawtons were the victims of a cybersecurity incident towards the end of last year. It led to customers being unable to purchase prescription drugs, use gift cards and other services.
