The Canadian Hurricane Centre has updated their hurricane forecast. Hurricane Dorian will land in Nova Scotia as a strong Category 1 storm.
The first effects of Dorian are beginning to be felt on mainland Nova Scotia in the form of rain. Widespread amounts forecast are 50-100 mm with localized amounts reaching 100-160 mm. As the storm tracks through the province the winds could gust to 150 kmph in costal regions of Halifax.
Nova Scotia Power has pre-staged hundreds of lines people around Nova Scotia and has around 1,000 staff activated to respond to damage as soon as it is safe to do so.
