Alex Trebek Celebrated His Birthday Twice In Nova Scotia – Friday Is His Final Jeopardy

The final Jeopardy! hosted by Alex Trebek airs this Friday, January 8 and it includes “a special tribute to the life and work of the man who captained America’s Favorite Quiz Show with skill, style, and sophistication for 36+ years,” according to a statement from Jeopardy! producer Sony Pictures Television.

Television’s favourite game show host died at the age of 80 on November 8 after a long-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. He taped the final episode on October 29, just a few days before he passed.

In addition to several Nova Scotia related answers on Jeopardy, Alex Trebek was no stranger to the province. He visited our province, including Sable Island and Cape Breton Island at least twice in recent memory and both times celebrated his birthday while here.

In July 2017, Trebek visited Sydney, Cape Breton to depart on a cruise dubbed “Fins and Fiddles” put on by One Ocean Expeditions. The 10 night cruise takes you to secluded Nova Scotia locations such as Sable Island and Bird Island. The cruise goes onto Newfoundland & Labrador, PEI, and Saint-Pierre et Miquelon.

Alex also visited Cape Breton in the summer of 2008 with his family, again during his birthday. He toured Highland Village Museum in Iona and other popular spots on the trip.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Alex Trebek today. He and his family toured the Village during the summer…
