Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Nova Scotia due to an forecast mixed bag of weather that is expected on Thursday.
The forecast is calling for general snow and ice pellets amounts from 5 to 10 cm and rainfall amounts of 10 to 15 mm along the Atlantic Coast.
“Rain will prevail along the South Shore, but over inland areas temperatures should remain near the freezing mark which will likely result in freezing rain.” says the Special Weather Statement. “Roadways could become slippery. For the rest of the Atlantic coast, Snow and ice pellets should begin early Thursday and then transition to rain.”
“For Annapolis Valley, Central, northern regions, and Cape Breton, precipitation will begin as snow but will become mixed with ice pellets. Amounts could locally exceed 10 cm.”
Roadways are likely to be a mess with the mixed weather and icy conditions. Be prepared for delays and allow extra time for travel.
