Sydney Mines Foodland Owners Removed Lysol Stock From Store And Sold It Out Of Their Home

The owners of the Foodland in Sydney Mines have issued an apology on Facebook after removing Lysol stock from their store and selling it privately from their home on Facebook.

A Facebook post with the owner’s personal email address said, “Lysol Bunny is back again. I have Lysol disinfectant spray… Same deal as the wipes.. comment or message if you want and etransfer [email removed]. I’ll have them home with the wipes tomorrow afternoon for pick up. No limit. $6.99 each. And I do still have wipes left also.”

They have posted an apology on their official Sydney Mines Foodland Facebook page that states:

“We would like to apologize to our Sydney Mines neighbours.

At a time when we should have been especially sensitive to the needs of everyone in our community, we took personal orders for disinfectant products that we kept aside for pick up at our home. We were trying to help, but it was a terrible mistake. All the Lysol products we had should have been put on shelf at the store and made available to everyone there.

We have had some time to reflect on our actions and have taken comments here and elsewhere on social media to heart. We are very sorry. What we will continue to reflect on is how to make this right for our community and you have our commitment to make amends.

Foodland’s parent company, Sobeys, issued the following statement to Nova Scotia Buzz, “We’re investigating this issue urgently to understand the details of what has happened.”

“It is clearly inappropriate to purchase much needed supplies and resell them outside the franchisee’s normal store operations, particularly in these times of crisis. We are extremely disappointed in the judgment and actions of the franchisee and are considering our next steps with the operators as the investigation continues.”

No one at the Sydney Mine’s Foodland would answer the phone for comment.
