The Canadian chain, Swiss Chalet is trending online in our great country, and it’s not because the Festive Special is coming soon. Today, Conservative Leader, Erin O’Toole promised Canadians a rebate of 50% on dine-in meals and non-alcoholic beverages at Canadian restaurants.
They’re calling it the Dine & Discover program and it’s designed to encourage Canadians to return to restaurants. The rebate would supposedly be available to Canadians under a Conservative Government Monday – Wednesday, for one month.
Twitter is alive with comments after someone tweeted that the Conservatives are offering us a cheap night out at Swiss Chalet, rather than cheaper housing, affordable childcare, more social programs and cheaper mobile and home internet.
Many online think it’s a joke, especially after the Conservatives promised a GST free December.
One commenter said it’s like the student government is promising 50% off in the school cafeteria.
The comments online show Canada is in much need of a solid recovery plan, but many are questioning if it’s 50% off at Swiss Chalet and other restaurants, or a GST free December.
