There is excitement growing online especially from former Pictou County, N.S. residents that have made their way to the big city. A sign has gone up on a storefront off Larry Uteck Blvd. in Bedford for the Original Sam’s Pizza of Pictou County.

That is right, Sam’s Pizza has confirmed with Nova Scotia Buzz that they are excited to be opening their first location in the Halifax area. No opening date is available as of yet but they’re hoping the final touches finish soon.
Pizza from Pictou County has been shipped around the world for special events and even to Canadian troops in Afghanistan.
Legend says it all started in 1962 when two Greek immigrants to Pictou County, George Kouyas and his brother Demetre opened Sam’s Pizza in Stellarton, NS. They did something no others did, they made their pizza with the legendary pizza with their trademark, spicy brown tomato sauce, instead of the traditional red tomato sauce.
Pictou County style pizza is loaded with specifically, thick Brother’s pepperoni from Halifax. Slices are made from thick dough, no thin crust here.
Stop into the new Sam’s Pizza when it opens in Bedford and discover pizza from Pictou County. We will keep you updated.
