Labana Singh, his wife Kulwinder and daughter Parabhjot opened Bagel Montreal Style in 2017 and it has been full steam ever since.
After honing his craft for 18 years at St-Viateur Bagel in Montreal, which some call home of the original Montreal style bagel, Labana knew he had a craft he could share. He took a chance and went into business. Not only does he sell to the public out of his 135 Wyse Road storefront in Dartmouth, he bakes for many local cafes and just recently started baking his bagels to be sold at Pete’s Frootique.
The family’s bagels are hand rolled, then boiled with honey water and cooked in a wood burning oven. This makes them according to Labana, the Montreal bagel expert, 100% Montreal style.
Bagel Montreal Style offers your favourite bagel flavours plus unique ones that are unavailable elsewhere in Nova Scotia. Unique creations include Montreal Steak Spice, Banana Chocolate, Cranberry Lemon and many more.
If you’re looking for something more filling or a meal on the go, they offer bagel sandwiches from their storefront which include a breakfast sandwich, turkey sandwich, smoked meat, roast beef or smoked salmon. We recommend the latter.
Bagel Montreal Style’s prices are $1.25 per bagel, $6 for six or $12 for 12. You need to try this bagel shop ASAP.
