Unlike past summers, this summer will see change on the Halifax waterfront with no Buskers Festival due to the pandemic. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, because if you have ever attended a Buskers Festival in Halifax, you would know that the crowds are huge and crammed together to watch the performers from across the world.
Last summer saw a virtual Buskers Festival online, but it just wasn’t the same as gathering in person. With no in-person performances this year again, change is coming.
Premier Entertainment Group, the organization behind the festival will be putting on an in-person festival on the waterfront that will follow COVID-19 protocols. Although there will be no flame-throwing and acrobatic moves, there be music and magic.
“We’re pleased to announce these free outdoor performances,” says event producer Kim Hendrickson. “Having large shows with international performers can’t happen at this time, but by creating a single outdoor stage, we can provide the entertainment fans are craving, while maintaining social distancing.”
On July 31 and August 1, the stage features a variety of talented local musicians, with shows running from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Musicians include Keonte Beals, Andru Branch, Gizelle De Guzman , Zamani, Che, Christine Campbell and Blake Johnston, Morgan Toney, and Iron Tide Singers.
On August 2, Magic Monday features Nova Scotia-based magicians, Michael James and Ian Stewart, with shows from noon until 6:30pm.
You can view the complete performance schedule on the Music & Magic festival website.
