Don’t let COVID-19 stop you from checking out the 34th Halifax Busker Festival. Many events and festivals have been cancelled or postponed for 2020, but year’s Busker Festival will be in full swing this week, although very different than previous years.
The Festival, which draws upwards of 250,000 people to the Halifax waterfront each year, can’t be held in it’s original form this year.
Artists are still going to performs exclusively for the Halifax audience and the event will also feature a few past favourites. It runs from this Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 2.
“We’re used to seeing some amazing feats at Halifax Busker Festival, but this year we’re doing our biggest trick yet, we’re going digital!” says festival producer Kim Hendrickson.
The Festival has put together an online version of the event which will allow spectators to view from the safety of home. You can still leave tips for the performers through virtual hats.
“We aren’t going to let COVID-19 take away our fun. We have committed fans who look forward to this event each year and we don’t want to let them down, so we are bringing the excitement and performers into their homes, ” said Hendrickson.
