The FIN Atlantic International Film Festival is bringing some big names from the film world to Halifax.
It kicks off later this week, but the Festival said Monday that Ellen Page, Willem Dafoe and directors Robert Eggers, François Girard and Atom Egoyan will touch down in Halifax for the festival’s gala presentations.
Ellen Page will attend Saturday’s gala presentation for There’s Something in the Water. Based on the book by Dalhousie University professor Ingrid Waldron. Page co-directed and co-produced the movie. A description of the movie says it “shines a light on the Canadian government’s current and historical decisions to prioritize the profits of corporations over the health of Indigenous and African Nova Scotian communities.”
Four-time Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe will attend the closing night gala presentation and the presentation of the critically acclaimed, The Lighthouse, which was shot in Nova Scotia.
